Kiss of Destinie
« on: March 08, 2011, 15:20 »
This is the first story I've ever managed to complete. It's not that good, but I hope you like it anyways!

“My name is Destinie… Remember me… I will return for you…” She leaned towards him, pressing her soft, sweet lips against his, then faded away…
Eric jerked awake, sweat rolling down his body. He got up, groaning, and made his way to the shower. Standing in the almost-scalding water, he let the steam melt away some of the now ever-present tension from his muscles. “That dream again… Why do I keep seeing her? It’s been five years…”
Climbing from the shower, he wrapped a towel around his waist and returned to his room.  “Destinie… Why do you haunt me?” He asked the photo on his desk, a picture of a lovely young woman with black hair and eyes. She had disappeared five years ago, and the police had long given up on finding her, presuming her to be dead.
He got dressed and looked at the clock, sighing as he saw that it was only 1:00 in the morning. “Might as well go for a walk. I’ll never get back to sleep now, anyways.” He slipped on his shoes, snuck out of the house, and headed towards the cemetery.
He wandered between the gravestones when a voice from the past whispered in his ear. “Eric… I have returned for you… Come to me…” Startled, he looked all around him, but saw no one. He shook his head and kept walking, his steps carrying him to the place he had first met Destinie, all those years ago.  Looking up, he stopped in surprise. Someone was there already there! He turned to leave, but that voice spoke again, this time out loud. “Eric… You came…” The figure on the hill walked towards him, slowly coming into focus until he could see her face. It was a face that he would recognize anywhere.
“Destinie! Where have you been so long? What happened?” Eric ran to her, taking her delicate hands in his large ones. “You’re so cold…” He wrapped his arms around her, trying to warm her up.
“It won’t help… I’m dying… only one thing can help now… will you give it freely?” She looked him in the eyes, and he nearly cried at the pain in her eyes. “Whatever it is, if I can help you in any way, I will! Whatever it is you need, you can have it! Just don’t leave me like that again!” She smiled sadly. “Thank you… I’m sorry…” She pressed herself against him and kissed him deeply, her lips tasting strangely of blood, then gently laid her lips against his throat. He cried out involuntarily as a sharp, burning pain seared through him, radiating from his throat. He fell to his knees, and she followed, her lips never leaving his throat. He could feel her fangs deep in his flesh, could feel the light pull as she sucked the blood from his veins.  He tried to get free, but he was so weak, and becoming weaker. She suddenly pulled away and looked into his eyes again, her own eyes blood-red and filled with sorrow. “I’m so sorry. I don’t want you to die, but if I save you, you will be trapped by the same curse I am under, never able to see the light of day again, and always hungering for blood, without which you would die. I’m sorry, but that is the only way. I wish I didn’t have to do this.”
Eric fought the pain flooding him to speak. “I… I don’t care… about any curse. I… want to be with… you, Des… Destinie… I’ll take the curse… gladly, to st… stay at your side…” He struggled to lift his arm and touched her cheek. “Please… do it…”
Red tears ran down Destinie’s cheeks, and she smiled weakly. Raising her wrist to her mouth, she sliced across her wrist with her fang and held the bloody wound to Eric’s lips. “Then drink. It is the only way.”
He opened his mouth, filling her cold blood fill his mouth. He hesitantly swallowed, and a hunger raged inside him, as if a fire was burning within his body. He grabbed her wrist and sucked the wound, her blood filling him, tantalyzingly sweet. She pulled her wrist away from him and collapsed beside him, weakened. “We must get inside… before the sun rises…” She carefully pulled herself up, then helped him to stand, and together they walked away into the night.

I've worked on improving it some....

My name is Destinie. . . Remember me. . . I will return for you. . .” She leaned towards him, pressing her soft, sweet lips against his, then faded away. . .        Eric jerked awake, sweat rolling down his body. He got up, groaning, and made his way to the shower. Standing in the almost-scalding water, he let the steam melt away some of the now ever-present tension from his muscles. That dream again. . . Why do I keep seeing her? It’s been five years. . .

“I’m so sorry. . . I took too much. . .” She bit her lip. “I don’t want you to die. But the only way I could stop it is to turn you into the same monster I have become. If I do so, you will be trapped by the same curse I am under. Never able to see the light of day again. Always hungering for blood, without which you would waste away and die. You will have to leave everything and everyone you knew behind. I’m sorry, but that is the only way. I wish there were some other choice.”
Eric fought past the pain that burned through every vein in his body to speak. “I. . . I don’t care . . . about any curse. I. . .  want to be with. . . you, Des. . . Destinie. . . I’ll take the curse glad. . .  gladly, to st . . . stay at your side. . .” He struggled to lift his arm, to caress her cold cheek with his trembling fingertips. “Please. . . do it. . .”
Blood-stained tears ran down Destinie’s cheeks, and a faint smile touched her lips. Raising her wrist to her mouth, she bit her wrist until it bled. She held the ragged wound to Eric’s lips. “Then drink. It is the only way.”
He opened his mouth, nearly gagging as her cool, slightly bitter blood coated his tongue. He hesitantly swallowed, and a hunger suddenly raged inside him, as if a fire was burning within his body. He grabbed her wrist and sucked blood from the wound, her blood, which now tasted deliciously sweet to him, soothing the burn. She pulled her wrist away from him and collapsed beside him, weakened.
“We must get inside. . . before the sun rises. . .” She carefully pulled herself up, and then helped him to stand. Together, they walked hand-in-hand into the darkness.
